I was trained by Mia Elmsater at the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), which was founded by Vimala McClure (author of 'Infant Massage: A handbook for loving parents').
IAIM courses are practised by thousands of teachers worldwide in over 45 countries. Further info about the IAIM (or to verify my qualification) can be found on the 'useful links' page.
In addition, I am a qualified NCT Antenatal Teacher and I run NCT as well as private antenatal classes from my comfortable home in Chiswick. For more information either contact me by email or telephone or visit www.nct.org.uk www.chiswickantenatalclasses.co.uk .
As a mother of three children (who all still love being massaged!) and as an antenatal teacher, I have a keen interest in supporting parents, especially in the challenging early months.
Benefits of Baby Massage
Baby massage has many benefits for both parent and baby. It promotes bonding & interaction, stimulates all of the baby's vital systems, increases relaxation & improves sleep patterns.
It offers pain relief from wind & can also help parents with Postnatal Depression.
Recent research indicated fathers also benefit greatly from practising infant massage with their baby; improving their relationship with their baby and strengthening the bond between father & child.
Baby massage is for all babies, therefore babies with special needs, surrogacy and/or adopted babies are also more than welcome! For some babies the massage strokes need to be adapted somewhat, but this is determined by the baby.
Touch is nourishment through the skin & has many benefits for people of all ages. I hope that the teachniques which you will learn in my course will be useful for many years to come, well beyond the baby stage.
